Please be clear what these pages are about: We are not criticising BW here. We know that BW is aware of these problems and is doing what it is able with the money available. Its money has to be prioritised which means that it is not available for structures such as those shown here.

What is needed is for people who use these waterways to contact MPs and Ministers to continue putting pressure on Government to provide adequate funding for the waterways.

These deteriorating assets illustrate why better funding is essential.

Ann and Chas Moore travel around the canal system on their boat "Moore2Life". They write about their travels on their blog and website.
They have noticed that the reduction of funding to the waterways is already having a serious effect on the structures.
They have started taking photographs of what they see and have kindly allowed us to reproduce a selection.
The photos show brick bridges near Ansty and Barby, and a section of towpath at All Oaks Wood, near Brinklow.
Let us hear your thoughts about this on our blog.

The next photos show a section of the Oxford Canal towpath at All Oaks Wood, near Brinklow. This is designated as part of the Oxford Canal Walk but in places in dangerous or virtually impossible to follow as sections have disappeared into the canal.
