The SOW campaign is based on getting people involved in their waterways. We are looking at ways in which we can make our voice heard and have some fun too.
As a beginning, we are announcing the Support Our Waterways photographic competition. The idea is that you and your family visit your local waterway and take pictures that fit into the following categories:
a) Wildlife - pictures of wildlife that depend on the waterways
b) Heritage - pictures of waterway structures that highlight our historic heritage
c) Recreation - pictures of all forms of recreation on the waterways
e) Urban renewal - pictures showing the benefits city & town waterside regeneration
f) Environment - pictures that highlight environmental issues
You can begin taking pictures straight away but there is no rush as the competition will remain open until the autumn so you have all Spring and Summer to take and choose your best pictures.
You can enter as many categories as you like, and in mid-September we will begin the judging process. Within each category, there will be prizes for the following divisions
a) Adult (non-professional)
b) Under 12
c) Teenage (13-19)
c) Group (Club, Society, Pub etc.)
d) School
