Protesters come in all ages.

40 boats and more than 150 people 'toughed it out' against the driving rain for a complete blockade of the Grand Union between 11.00 and 12 noon.

Glen Peckett writes:-

Attended the protest at Stoke Bruerne yesterday, very well attended with several working boats outside the Boat Inn as well as plenty of pleasure boats to really make sure the canal was closed! There were lots of banners and placards in evidence - although many were looking a bit soggy by the end (as were the protesters).

Most importantly though it got really good coverage on Anglia TV in the evening with several people interviewed, including Lynda Payton (IWA Branch Chairman) and Bill Joyce, the Region Chairman.

The hard work put in by the organisers, including Lynda and David Blagrove, really paid off.
